Introducing the Lion’s Paw Table Lamp, the first release from Tennant NY's Fall 2023 Venus Collection, a whimsical new family of handmade fixtures inspired by the Surrealists and the natural forms of the sea. Employing the latest advances in cool-to-the-touch LED technology, the collection features table lamps and wall sconces made with hand-selected specimen seashells in place of traditional shades, putting the organic source material behind so much 20th century modernism front and center.
Despite its passing resemblance to Audrey II, Model No. 019 requires no care or feeding. Centered on a terra cotta-tinted cast-concrete base, with an unfinished brass column, knurled brass hardware, and olive cloth-covered cord with contrasting khaki inline switch, its shade is constructed from a matching pair of sustainably sourced, naturally translucent Lion’s Paw scallop shells.
Permanently fused open at the scallop's natural hinge, the shade is fully adjustable on the vertical axis. Perfect as a scene-stealing accent lamp—and even better at one's bedside, in a pair—its playful silhouette, sophisticated lines, rarefied materials, and inviting light will breathe fresh life into any interior.
Made-to-order by hand in a numbered, signed edition by artist Christopher Tennant.
